Artist BioJerry Virgilio (Photographer/Artist) Born in 1970 in Key West, that's right I;m a native citizen of the Conch Republic. I am also a proud full-blooded Italian and have lived in Florida my whole life. Being a flat-lander I appreciate all that Florida has to offer, but the mountains and majestic landscapes have drawn me to locales from coast to coast to capture the beauties of this vast amazing country. I have been attached to my camera at the trigger finger since 1984 when I received my first 35 mm film camera, a Minolta SR1. Over the past 35 years I have shot with many cameras, mastered many in-camera and post-production effects. Yet I will always be a student of my craft, learning from other photographers I admire in the industry. I pride myself on capturing moods, feelings, moments in unique perspectives and angles. Our world is full of beauty, both natural and man-made. Some of the most magnetic images capture repeating patterns and colors in nature you can't even find in a 120 color box of Crayolas. Whether it is the energy felt by the unbridled power of mother nature during a storm or the soothing effect of a sunrise, the many human-made wonders are just as beautiful and the way nature reclaims that which man has developed and now abandoned to the elements, these images speak to our souls each in it's own way. In it's purest definition, photography is capturing light. What we do with the light which we capture with our cameras.... now that's where fine art meets photography. I like to go to the edge of the human perception insinuating the light and depth of field in my images. The human eyes and brain process light in ways camera technology alone have not yet fully matched, but knowing how to unlock this in my images is the second objective after capturing the best subject and composition. Please enjoy my work, if an image provokes a strong sense of emotion, please consider adding it to your collection. I enjoy hearing from my happy collectors, so feel free to reach out to me.
